Important: 21orNot provides automated analysis of publicly available information only. Results are not guaranteed and may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. This tool is not a background check and is not for law enforcement use.

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using 21orNot, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. How It Works

21orNot is a client-side web application that runs entirely in your browser. You provide your own Groq API key, and all scanning is performed directly between your browser and Groq's API at api.groq.com. There is no 21orNot server — the site is static code hosted on Cloudflare's CDN. No scan data is received, processed, or stored by us.

3. Your API Key

You are responsible for your own Groq API key. By using 21orNot, you agree to:

Comply with Groq's Terms of Use
Keep your API key secure
Accept responsibility for all usage under your key

21orNot does not have access to your API key and cannot be held responsible for charges incurred on your Groq account.

4. Public Sources Only

Deep Scan searches publicly available sources only. 21orNot does not access private, restricted, or law-enforcement databases.

5. No Guarantees

Results can fail silently, be incomplete, or return incorrect matches (especially for common names or international sources). You agree that results are non-actionable and are only a potential indicator requiring further verification.

6. FCRA Compliance — Prohibited Uses

21orNot is not a Consumer Reporting Agency and does not provide consumer reports as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). You agree not to use 21orNot for:

Employment screening or hiring decisions
Housing or tenant screening
Credit or insurance decisions
Law enforcement or investigative use
Any decision where a formal background check is legally required

7. ID Verification

21orNot verifies age using barcode data and (optionally) AI vision analysis of the front of the ID. This does not guarantee authenticity of the physical ID document.

8. No Data Retention

Because 21orNot operates entirely in your browser, no scan data is retained by us. Results exist only in your browser tab and are lost when you close it. See our Privacy Policy for full details on our BYOK architecture.

9. Limitation of Liability

21orNot is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any decisions made based on scan results, any inaccuracies in AI-generated analysis, or any issues arising from your use of the Groq API.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the service indicates acceptance of any changes.
